If you are touching someone, let’s say just putting your hand on their shoulder or hugging them or whatever, and you can tell that they are uncomfortable, then stop touching them.
Whether you are an acquaintance, a friend, or a family member.
Do not continue to touch them on a daily basis.
Do not get frustrated with them when they don’t want you to touch them.
Do not keep pestering them by asking them why they don’t want you to touch them/saying that it’s stupid for them to feel uncomfortable about it.
Just stop.
That person does not want you to touch them and you are being completely insensitive and a complete jerk when you refuse to stop and then start antagonizing them.
That person doesn’t care that they’re “hurting your feelings”.
They are uncomfortable. You are making them uncomfortable.
Even if you’re not any threat to them (and they might know that), if you are making a person uncomfortable in any way and it “hurts your feelings”, then stop doing it.
If you stop doing whatever it is that makes them uncomfortable, they won’t hurt your feelings by being uncomfortable about it.
Also, fuck you for getting upset if you make them uncomfortable.
YOU ARE THE ONE IN THE WRONG HERE. NOT THIS INNOCENT PERSON.
Learn to respect people’s privacy and personal space.
Touching someone when they don’t want you to touch them, when you know they don’t want you to touch them, makes you a terrible person.
/End rant.
Reblogging because my family members do this to me every time. They keep trying to play with my hair even though I really hate it when they do. And mom constantly guilts me about it.
